This is a good opportunity to own this rare radio at a great price. It is a beautiful Mid Century Modern (MCM), fully functional model 87 German tube radio manufactured by Grundig USA, having the full FM range between 88-108 MHz.
The radio has some minor issues. The case is plastic and has a repaired crack on the top right side which is NOT very noticeable as shown in the pictures. There is some wear to the lettering on the pushbuttons. The back pressboard panel has a piece missing as shown in the photograph.
The case was cleaned and hand polished and is in decent shape for surviving over 60 years! All other exterior parts and trim have been thoroughly cleaned and polished. This radio makes an excellent display piece and pulls in stations on both AM and FM.
This small compact radio only measures approx. 13 by 8 by 6 inches. It is a simple design with 3 tubes and a single speaker yet it performs well.
The chassis was removed from the case and all parts were well inspected and tested. Any defective capacitors were replaced, any resistors out of specifications were replaced and any weak or dead tubes replaced. The panel lights were replaced. Push button controls have been cleaned and lubricated.
